Description:

The Irish American Heritage Center continues its Sunday brunch/theatre series, The Stone Hearth Staged Reading Series. Each month, a cast of professional actors will perform staged readings of Irish one-act plays in the Fifth Province Pub following an Irish brunch.

The remaining fall date is November 6. On each date, brunch is served from noon to 1pm and performances begin at 1pm.

The November performance is Bedtime Story by Sean O’Casey, directed by Directed by Si Osborne.

Writer/producer Frank Mahon and actress Brigid Duffy Gerace and various IAHC members have formed a group of theatre professionals in order to rekindle local interest in one of Ireland’s great art forms, the one-act play.

First popularized by the young Abbey Theatre in the first part of the 20th century, the one-act play has recently found a new audience. While always being appreciated in traditional theatres, one-act plays are now often produced in pubs and restaurants, particularly in Ireland. Serving a bowl of soup and a short play on its second floor, Bewley’s Café Theatre in Dublin has been a “hot ticket” for a number of years.

Tickets for the brunch/theatre package are $25 for IAHC members and $30 for non-members.
