Description:

MaSamba, Evanston Escola de Samba and Orquestra de Samba present a lively program of Brazilian music at the Center.

Sounds of Brazil will showcase the increasing influence of Brazilian culture in Ireland, as it becomes a more multicultural society.

MaSamba Samba School is Ireland’s premier Latin music collective and has operated in Dublin for the last 17 years. MaSamba’s extensive activities in Ireland include parades, stage shows, and music workshops, and the group has also worked in the UK, Germany, Mexico, Brazil and the United States. MaSamba has received support for their week-long visit to Chicago from Culture Ireland, part of the 'Imagine Ireland' program. They will be joined by Evanston Escola de Samba,

They will be joined by Evanston Escola de Samba, which brings the spirit of samba to the Chicagoland area through education and performance of Brazilian music and dance, and Orquestra de Samba, a ten-piece mixed instrumentation ensemble comprised of musicians with classical, jazz, Latin, and Brazilian backgrounds.

The “Sounds of Brazil” concert features all three groups performing Brazilian percussion styles as well as Brazilian vocal and instrumental styles.

The concert is Sunday, October 16th at 3pm. Tickets are $15 for students, IAHC members and seniors and $20 for general admission.
